Legacy Runner...I don’t think so!
Well this weekend was a another marathon weekend. I had entered the Shamrock Whale Challenge for the fifth time in six years. I missed it last year due to my pericarditis. The Whale Challenge is running the 8K on the Saturday before and a full marathon on the Sunday after. I always felt that I had home-field advantage in this race being that it was right here in Virginia Beach. You just couldn’t miss it! I was always able to sleep in my own bed, eat my own food, and even be a

My 2nd Marathon - Shamrock 2015
As I begin to prepare for yet another marathon I am going back and reposting my old blog posts from my original blog, ET's This I Believe. Of course now this one is all about running! I probably should rewrite them all but that is a lot of work....and I am lazy. Read through and relive my story, Hope you enjoy! http://etsthisibelieve.blogspot.com/2014/03/sermon-run-forrest-run.html As always, I share my story as a diabetic and why I run. #34 Marathon and the Crabs
I had seen the crazy crab shaped medal on the registration page and I had to have it! The whole shell opened up too to reveal the skyline of the city of Baltimore. It sounds like a fun race…..and I needed to knock out the state of MARYLAND. We lived so close but I hadn’t ran a marathon here yet.
So I set out to tackle this one. I had felt confident at the Wineglass but didn’t do my best performance. I was still struggling to achieve a strong finish again this year. My weigh

#35 Richmond Anthem
Happy birthday to me! My schedule has been crazy and I’ve been running all over…..unfortunately not running on my feet but rather work related. I did 1500 miles the previous weekend. Well here I am. In Richmond doing this race again. Last year I did a strong finish……last year I was healthier, weighed less, trained more. Different story this year.
November 10, my 53rd birthday and I’m celebrating my 35th marathon. What a way to enjoy the day. It was a bit cold this morning. N

Dah da dah da dada dum dum dum (Rocky theme song)
So after my performance in Richmond and OBX it’s doubtful that I can finish a race strong. I’m sure that my diabetes and the meds are preventing me from performing at my top level. Mostly due to the added weight from the insulin. Doctors argue with me. But I know it is certainly a factor.
This race I will be traveling by myself. My wife is concerned. However I really want to run this race. It’s the 25th anniversary of the run and it’s the same weekend as the new Creed II mo
