“ Sacrifices for goals. What does it take? “

As an endurance athlete, I know firsthand the sacrifices that come with trying to give up junk food, alcohol, and added sugars in order to achieve my goals. It's not always easy, and there have been times when I've had to turn down invitations to parties or social gatherings because they revolve around unhealthy foods and drinks.

But I've learned that these sacrifices are necessary if I want to perform at my best and reach my full potential as an athlete. While it may be tempting to indulge in junk food or alcohol from time to time, I know that they will only hinder my progress and ultimately, my ability to achieve my goals.

Giving up these things has not been easy, but it's a choice I've made in order to prioritize my training and my health. It requires discipline and commitment, and there are definitely times when I miss being able to indulge in certain foods or drinks. But the sense of accomplishment and pride I feel when I see the progress, I've made in my training makes it all worth it.

It's important to remember that everyone is different, and what works for me may not work for everyone. However, I encourage all athletes, whether endurance or not, to consider the impact of their food and drink choices on their health and training goals. With a little bit of sacrifice and commitment, we can all make choices that support our bodies and help us to achieve our dreams.
